J.R. LeFaivre Construction Company was founded in 1976 by Jim LeFaivre. Jim graduated from Towson State University in 1967 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. While teaching in the Baltimore County School District he earned his master's degree at The Johns Hopkins University. In 1976 he moved his family to Carroll County. Because of the financial demands of raising 5 children, and with his wife's full support, he left teaching to establish his remodeling business. His goal for his company has always been to provide his clients with the best service in the industry.

In 1995, his son Matthew joined his father to expand the business into different areas of the market. In college Matt studied design & drafting. After joining LeFaivre Construction, he furthered his education by attending remodeling seminars offered by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA). Jim furthered his remodeling expertise by participating in certified graduate remodelers training offered by the industry and became a Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) in 1994.

With the help of technology and computer aided design, Jim & Matt offer complete design service. This unique service allows you to see your project before any work is started. As a team, Jim & Matt earned their company national recognition. In May 2000, J.R. LeFaivre Construction Co. was selected by Remodeling Magazine is one of the "Best 50" remodeling companies in the nation.
